Your Wi-Fi Could be Slow Because of These Reasons

Slow Internet and poor signal strength are two common problems of Wi-Fi users. You are in middle of an important video conference and it disconnects abruptly. What could be the underlying problem? Let’s look at some of the reasons that might be slowing down your Wi-Fi.

Hardware Issues

It’s not the fault of the router or your ISP all the time. Hardware issues can also slow down Internet connectivity. If the Internet is slow in only one device and rest are working fine, there could be hardware issue. Figure it out and resolve to see if that works.

Bandwidth Consuming Applications

If you have kids at home, chances are they will be hooked onto the Internet and downloading heavy apps. When these apps work in the background, they might limit the speed. Block the bandwidth consuming apps and see if this works for you. If you have a router or mesh wi-fi at home, check out mesh wifi parental controls to limit Internet usage for kids.

Hacking

Data theft is no longer uncommon. When everybody wants data and more data, they might not hesitate to enter your use your private connection to browse the Internet. As a result, you will experience poor signal strength and connectivity. The easiest way to prevent this is by keeping a unique network name and difficult password which is a combination of numbers, special characters, and upper case.

Location of the router

If the router is not located centrally or it is covered by a box or something, there’s a possibility that wrong location of the router is weakening signal strength. Place the router in the middle of the house so that every nook and corner gets strong signals. If this doesn’t work, install wifi mesh system and the problem will be resolved.

At Last

If you have a strong password, there are no hardware issues and everything seems alright, reset the router and this might help.
